Extending Solidarity: BREADS Delivers 5,000 Relief Kits to Flood-Hit Families in Kerala

News written by: Fr George P S

In a strong show of solidarity and swift humanitarian response, BREADS Bangalore, in collaboration with Bosconet and supported by Nestlé India's CSR initiative, distributed 5,000 essential food kits to flood-affected families across the Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Kottayam districts of Kerala.

The initiative, conducted through the Don Bosco Centres in the three districts, aimed to offer timely relief to communities reeling from the impact of heavy monsoon rains and flooding. Each food kit was carefully curated to meet the urgent dietary needs of families, containing rice, pulses, oil, spices, and other staples.

In Thrissur, 2,000 kits were distributed across two heavily affected areas. Ernakulam saw 1,000 families benefit from the aid, while Kottayam received 2,000 kits reaching communities in Kadaplamattom, Kottayam Municipality, and Vijayapuram.

The success of the distribution hinged on robust collaboration. Local leaders, municipal officials, panchayat representatives, and community volunteers collaborated with BREADS and Don Bosco staff to ensure a fair and efficient distribution, identifying the most vulnerable families with care and precision.

Representatives from Nestlé India and local government bodies were present at several distribution sites, underscoring the multi-stakeholder partnership that powered the relief effort.

"This effort is a testament to what can be achieved when civil society, corporate partners, and local communities come together in the spirit of compassion and service," said a spokesperson from BREADS. "It's not just about delivering food—it's about delivering hope and restoring dignity."

In the wake of yet another natural calamity in Kerala, this initiative stood out for its coordinated and compassionate approach, offering more than just material aid—it provided a message of care, solidarity, and shared humanity.

BREADS extended its heartfelt appreciation to all collaborators, especially Bosconet for coordination, Nestlé India for funding support, and the countless volunteers and civic authorities who helped translate a vision of relief into reality.

Through initiatives like these, BREADS continues to affirm its mission: to be present where human dignity needs to be defended, and where communities strive to rebuild their lives with resilience and hope.
