In revealing the attitude of Christ, St. Paul writes to the Philippians: ``He always had the nature of God, but he did not think that by force he should try to become equal with God. Instead of this, of his own free will he gave up all he had and took the nature of a servant. He became like man and appeared in human likeness.`` (Philippians 2:6-7). This is the basic disposition of the Christmas event as well, i.e., self-emptying or sacrifice. Love made visible and sacrifice characterize the event of Incarnation. The celebration of Christmas has significance when we are able to love people in a concrete way by making little sacrifices. `Love until it hurts` is a beautiful saying from Mother Theresa...Fr.
