In the heart of Guwahati, amidst the tranquil beauty of the Brahmaputra river, a beacon of hope shone brightly on a crisp March morning. Organised with meticulous care and dedication, a one-day seminar on mental well-being with the theme “Healthy Minds, Healthy Lives” unfolded at the esteemed Don Bosco Institute, Kharguli, Guwahati. The event drew a diverse crowd, including priests, religious, teachers, university students, youth leaders, staff, and lay leaders from various parishes and Salesian centres. Led by Fr. Marcus, the Youth Commission delegate of the Province of Guwahati, the event commenced with an aura of warmth and reverence as distinguished guests and esteemed resource persons were welcomed with traditional ‘phoolan gamochas’ and bouquets.

Making an impact in the ministry for the Young at risk for the last four decades and more through its Anbu Illam (A Home of Love) project, the Salesian Province of Chennai has completed a decade of service at the Don Bosco Young at Risk Aftercare and Short Stay Home located in Chennai. The 10th Anniversary celebration of the Don Bosco Young at Risk Aftercare and Short Stay Home was held on February 16 in Chennai. 

Father Rafael Bejarano Revira SDB, overseeing Social Works within the Youth Services Department of the Salesian Congregation in Italy, Rome, visited various Young at Risk (YaR) centres in the Salesian Province of Bangalore (INK). He was accompanied by Father Joseph Prabu, Executive Director of the DB YaR Forum in Delhi, and Father Francis Bosco, Joint Secretary of the Migrant Ministry within DB YaR Forum, Delhi.

Don Bosco National Forum for the Young at Risk organized a transformative two-day seminar on 20 and 21 September at the Don Bosco Youth Animation Centre (DBYAC) Ennore, Chennai, for over 90 enthusiastic participants from the eleven Provinces of India. The theme, "Enhancing Mental Well-being of Young at Risk,"ignited a powerful dialogue on nurturing the mental health of youth. The psychological services of Chennai Province Niraivagam facilitated the seminar.

The event was designed to raise awareness about the fundamental rights of children, foster community solidarity, and champion the cause of a pristine and secure environment for the younger generation.

The Don Bosco YaR (Young at Risk) Leaders’ Orientation was held at Don Bosco House SPCI, New Delhi, from 27 to 29 July with 30 Salesians and lay people. Father Patrick Lepcha discussed the Salesian Youth Ministry services, targeting challenges like peer pressure, depression, and lack of self-confidence while recognizing the importance of quality education.

The Young at Risk (YaR) Commission of the Salesian Province of Chennai organized YaR Day 2023 on the theme, "Choose Life. Not Drugs", on February 26, 2023. The aim was to spread awareness of substance use disorders among children and young adults. The programme was held at Don Bosco Beatitudes, Vyasarpadi, Chennai.

The Salesian Provincial of Bangalore Province, Father Jose Thomas Koyickal sdb, blessed and laid the foundation stone for the new building at Don Bosco Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on September 20. Don Bosco Veedu (house) is a venture by the Salesians to educate and empower the deprived and the underprivileged of the society in Thiruvananthapuram.

Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society (BREADS) Bangalore organised a two-day staff training on May 20 and 21, 2022, for the members of the DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education and Mentoring) programme at Don Bosco Provincial House, Bangalore.

To raise awareness among youngsters and children on the consequences of drug abuse and digital addiction, BREADS (Bangalore Rural Education And Development Society), the development office of the Salesian Province of Bangalore, launched the DREAM (Drug Rehabilitation Education And Mentoring) project on November 20, 2021, at Don Bosco Vaduthala, the Valdocco of Bangalore Province. The DREAM Project was inaugurated and launched by Nelson, Joint Excise Commissioner of Crime Branch, Ernakulam. FatherJose Koyickal, Provincial, Bangalore Province, released the logo.

Don Bosco Youth, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore, went on a walking pilgrimage to St. Joseph`s Church, Briand Square, Chamarajpet, Bangalore, on March 13, 2021. The holy trip undertaken marks the Year of St. Joseph and the spirit of the Lenten season. St. Joseph`s Church at Briand Square has been declared a shrine for the year of St. Joseph.

Don Bosco Bhavan Mannuthy, the cradle of Salesian formation for the Province of Bangalore, celebrated its Golden Jubilee of Foundation on January 30, 2021. Fr Joyce Thonikuzhiyil, Provincial, with Fr Jose Koyickal, Vice-provincial and the provincial designate, and Salesians, presided over the thanksgiving Holy Eucharist. Fifty lamps representing the fifty years were placed at the altar at the beginning of the Mass, reminding the fifty graceful and rays-filled years of Don Bosco Bhavan. The Jubilee candle lit for the past 364 days was lit once again by Fr John PK, Rector, in gratitude to God for the blessings.

Even as the unfortunate COVID-19 lockdown proved to be a difficult time for many, the Salesians of the Province of Bangalore [INK], managed to complete and inaugurate a new residential facility in Hospet, for rescued child labourers.

On 05 August, on the Foundation Day of the Salesian Province of Tiruchy, `Retreat-Don Bosco` Yercaud completed the 21-day training course in Nursery and Nature Preservation `Project CALLS` supported by Jugend Eine Welt of Austria and Don Bosco Network South Asia. Through this programme, people got to Learn-Work-Earn their livelihood. Yercaud being a hill station, people earn their living through tourism and the travel industry. With the lockdown continuously extended, the people, especially in the hill-station left with nothing to survive, managed to learn, work and earn through the Shevaroyhills Tribal Development Institute [STDi].
