St. Xavier’s School Unveils 15 Statues Honouring National Leaders and Northeast Heroes

St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, unveiled 15 statues on August 25 in a ceremony honouring prominent national leaders, social reformers, visionaries, and freedom fighters of India and the Northeast. Subhash Dutta, Additional District Magistrate of Sepahijala District, was the chief guest and unveiled the statues.

The personalities represented include Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore, along with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Others include Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru and Lord Robert Baden-Powell, as well as Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, U Tirot Sing Syiem, Bir Tikendrajit Singh, Moje Riba, Rani Gaidinliu and Rani Ropuiliani.

Addressing the gathering, Dutta congratulated the school management on the initiative and appreciated its decision to honour eminent personalities from across the country, particularly leaders and freedom fighters associated with the history and struggles of Northeast India.

He said such initiatives could help students connect with the lives, values and contributions of the personalities represented on the campus. He added that preserving their memory could inspire young people to develop a stronger sense of responsibility towards society and the nation.

Held on the school campus, the ceremony was marked by solemnity, patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. It aimed to enrich the campus while giving students enduring symbols of national pride, service and sacrifice.
