The Salesian Cooperators of Pune, DBYS Koregaon Park, celebrated a milestone as four new members were welcomed into the Salesian Family. On the solemn occasion of Independence Day, Barbara Pillay, Merelene Mathias, Rene Correa, and Kiran Correa made their official promise to live as lifelong members of the Cooperators, embracing Don Bosco’s mission of service to the young.

The ceremony, filled with joy and camaraderie, marked not only the induction of new members but also the deepening of the community’s commitment to the Salesian charism. For Barbara, Merelene, Rene, and Kiran, the promise represents more than a formal step—it is a declaration of faith and dedication to a life centred on reason, religion, and loving-kindness.

“The promise is a profound declaration of living Don Bosco’s spirit in everyday life,” explained leaders of the unit. “It empowers lay people to be co-responsible in the Church’s mission and active participants in building communities of hope.”

The celebration began with the Eucharistic Mass, presided over by Fr Diego Nunes, Provincial Delegate, and concelebrated by Fr Dinesh Vasava, the local delegate who has accompanied the Koregaon Park unit with constant guidance. Their leadership gave the ceremony a spiritual depth, inspiring those present to renew their commitment to the Salesian mission.

Adding to the atmosphere, the Yerwada Salesian Cooperators’ unit enriched the liturgy with soulful and melodic singing, heightening the sense of unity and thanksgiving.

The induction of the four new members marks an important step in the growth of the Pune unit. With their fresh commitment, the Salesian Cooperators of Koregaon Park are poised to continue their mission with renewed zeal—bringing Don Bosco’s vision to life through education, service, and accompaniment of young people, especially the poor and marginalized.
