News reported by: Fr Edward Sacrawat sdb
Holy Child Auxilium School, Vasant Vihar, was graced with a moment of profound joy and spiritual renewal as it welcomed the Rector Major, Fr. Fabio Attard, on February 11. The visit marked a significant occasion for the entire Auxilian family.
The Rector Major was warmly received by Provincial Sr. Leelamma Palliparambil, her councillors, the sisters of the Delhi Region communities, and the primary school students. NCC cadets escorted the dignitaries to the auditorium in a ceremonial procession.
Michel, the Vice Head Girl, formally welcomed the Rector Major, highlighting his inspiring journey as a priest, educator, theologian and global leader committed to serving young people, especially the poor and vulnerable. A melodious welcome song by the school choir followed, creating a prayerful and uplifting atmosphere.
The cultural programme began with a graceful Prayer Dance, expressing devotion through movement. A thought-provoking skit titled “Do Whatever He Tells You” followed, drawing from Gospel values of faith, obedience and trust in God’s will, and encouraging students to translate belief into action.
The junior school students then presented a vibrant “Dance on Creation,” celebrating the beauty and harmony of God’s creation while reminding the audience of their responsibility toward environmental stewardship. The performance received warm applause from the gathering.
In his address, Fr. Attard expressed appreciation for the students’ performances and commended the school community for its vibrant spirit. He encouraged the young people to grow in faith, live purposefully, and embody Salesian values in daily life. Referring to St. John Bosco's legacy, he urged them to become responsible citizens rooted in integrity and compassion.
The programme concluded with heartfelt gratitude to the Rector Major for his gracious presence and guidance. His visit reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to remain faithful to Don Bosco's charism.
Fr. Attard also held a special interaction with the teachers, making the occasion spiritually enriching and memorable. Members of the Salesian Family—including the Salesian Co-operators, Association of Mary Help of Christians, and Salesian Past Pupils—shared in the joy of encountering the Rector Major.
Later, he met with the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, exhorting them to keep Christ at the centre of their consecrated life. He emphasized the transformative power of community living, noting that community should be a place of welcome where vocations can flourish. He also met the Provincial, her council, and the Animators of the Delhi Region, offering insights on leadership rooted in communion, humility and spiritual depth.
