Nagaland Governor Launches Mega Job Fair in Kohima, Unveiling 1,000+ Job Opportunities for Youth

A Mega Job Fair at Don Bosco College, Kohima, on Saturday offered more than 1,000 job vacancies and aimed to boost employment for young people in Nagaland and the Northeast. The day-long event united job seekers, recruiters, government officials, educational institutions, and industry representatives to bridge the gap between talent and employment.

The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), Don Bosco Job Placement Network India, the National Career Service, and the Regional Employment Exchange (MCC) Kohima jointly organised the Job Fair with the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. Over 20 agencies and companies participated, offering job opportunities in Nagaland, across India, and internationally.

Fr. Dr Tious Varghese SDB, Principal of Don Bosco College, Kohima, opened the programme with a welcome address to the dignitaries and participants. Fr. Joseph Pampackal SDB, Salesian Provincial of the Province of Dimapur, attended the event as the Guest of Honour.

Fr. Dr Roy George SDB, Executive Director and Chief Functionary of AIDA, Dimapur, delivered a message on behalf of the organisers. Shri Moatoshi Longkumer, Advisor for Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Excise Department, Government of Nagaland, also graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

Shri Nand Kishore Yadav, Governor of Nagaland, formally inaugurated the Mega Job Fair as the Chief Guest. According to a statement issued by Raj Bhavan, Nagaland, the Governor emphasised the importance of creating meaningful employment opportunities and empowering the state's youth. He noted that the participation of over 25 companies and hundreds of aspiring job seekers reflected the growing demand for platforms that connect skilled talent with employers.

Encouraging the youth, the Governor urged them to remain confident, embrace lifelong learning, and take advantage of emerging opportunities in a rapidly changing employment landscape.

Recruiters represented a broad spectrum of industries, including education, aviation, hospitality, construction, manufacturing, business process outsourcing (BPO), technical services, sales, and customer support. Prominent participating companies included Reliance Jio, MRF, Barbeque Nation, KFC, Tata Engineering Station, Domestic Airlines, TAAS International, and several others.

The Job Fair attracted 588 registered job seekers and 23 recruiters. A total of 25 companies participated in the recruitment drive, including 17 offline and eight online recruiters. By the end of the event, recruiters offered employment to 61 candidates and shortlisted 230 others for subsequent stages of the recruitment process. This was a significant step towards addressing unemployment and enhancing workforce readiness in the region. The successful collaboration among government agencies, industry partners, and educational institutions demonstrated a growing commitment to creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth of Northeast India.
