News written by: Linciya Rumao for BIS Mumbai
The Homelink Mumbai Hub conducted a two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on “Transforming Care & Interventions through Documentation and Digital Intelligence” on January 8–9 at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga. The programme brought together coordinators and staff members to strengthen ethical documentation practices, enhance digital capacity, and promote data-driven decision-making within child-centred services.
Designed as a capacity-building initiative, the ToT aimed not only to impart technical competencies but also to prepare participants to cascade the learning to their respective nodes and teams. The programme commenced with registration and a prayer song, Sukariya, followed by a welcome address by Fr. Roshan Gonsalves, Hub Director. The resource persons—Fr. Joe Prabhu, Mr Austin, and Mr. Raj Parit were formally welcomed and honoured with Gandhi caps.
Setting the conceptual framework for the sessions, Fr. Joe Prabhu highlighted Homelink DIGI's broader vision, emphasising that digitalisation is fundamentally about nurturing a data-driven culture that strengthens care, accountability, and advocacy. He urged participants to emerge as change leaders within their organisations.
Through interactive demonstrations, Mr Austin familiarised participants with the Homelink DIGI platform, explaining systematic documentation of centres, projects, staff roles, and beneficiary services. He illustrated how accurate and consistent data support transparency, effective reporting, and impact measurement across diverse interventions, including migrant support, child care institutions, and community-based programmes.
Child safeguarding and Standards of Care were key focus areas, with Fr. Prabhu reiterating the Salesian commitment to holistic child well-being, encompassing social, emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions. Complementing this, Mr Raj Parit led sessions on digital literacy and cybersecurity, highlighting emerging online risks and the need for responsible, secure digital practices.
Day Two deepened the engagement with sessions on data protection, consent-based documentation, and data-driven interventions. Practical modules on report generation, Power BI, and visual data representation enabled participants to translate information into actionable insights. The programme concluded with reflections, quizzes, and a valedictory session graced by Fr. George, former YaR Coordinator, during which certificates were distributed, affirming participants as Trainers of Trainers within the Homelink network.
