News reported by: Michael Makri (INS)
Around 500 young people, aged 11 to 19, took part in a two-day seminar organised by the Parish of Lum Sinai, Umden, on August 22 and 23 under the theme “Rooted in Christ and in Society.” The participants also included students from the parish hostel.

The seminar was animated under the guidance of Sr. Suktheimon Madur, VSDB, together with other VSDB Sisters and members of the parish's Youngsters of Jesus Christ Group. It was conducted under the leadership of Fr. Michael Khongngaiñ, Parish Priest.

The sessions focused on issues affecting young people in their everyday lives and the challenges they encounter in contemporary society. Resource persons from different places addressed various themes, giving participants opportunities for reflection, discussion and personal growth.

Sr. Mabel Dhar, VSDB, first addressed the participants on healthy adolescence, child marriage and substance addiction, highlighting the importance of making informed and responsible choices during the formative years. This was followed by a session on the responsible use of social media conducted by police personnel from Nongpoh Police Station. Deacon Albinus Rynshon then spoke on the Seven Sacraments and their significance in Christian life.

The seminar sought to help the youngsters understand themselves better, recognise God’s presence in their daily lives and strengthen their relationship with the Church. In this way, it also encouraged them to face contemporary challenges with faith, responsibility and a strong sense of social commitment.
