Leading the Change: International Education Conference Kicks Off at Don Bosco Institute

The 4th International Conference on Education for School Principals and Educational Administrators, "Creativity and Innovation in Schools: The Principal's Role," was inaugurated on December 6 at Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli. The event brought together educational leaders, principals, and administrators to explore the crucial role of creativity and innovation in shaping the future of education.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury, the former Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University and a former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University, reflected on the essence of creativity and innovation, drawing attention to the simple innovations present in everyday life. He highlighted the prayer dance at the beginning of the conference as an example of creativity, showcasing the theme of inclusivity. Prof. Choudhury also referenced scientific discoveries, noting how great secular and spiritual leaders used creativity to drive change and attract followers. He encouraged principals to embrace creativity to navigate the challenges of the 21st century and lead their institutions effectively.

In his speech, the Guest of Honour, Father Sebastian Kuricheal SDB, the Provincial, described the role of the school principal as akin to that of a captain navigating a ship through stormy seas. He emphasized that a principal must steer the institution through daily challenges while focusing on the moral development of students, the school's reputation, and the overall shaping of students' future. He urged the participants to inspire innovation and shape students' lives with a vision for the future.

During the inaugural program, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries released a book on Social Science authored by Father Rayappan of the Catholic Board of Tezpur and published by Merina Publication.

The students of Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, performed a choir and Rongmei Dance, captivating the audience with their impressive performances. Father Cletus Sebastian SDB, the Executive Director of Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, welcomed the gathering.

Other dignitaries present included Father Bivan Rodrigues Mukhim SDB, Vice Provincial, Father Jayaprakash Anthonimuttu SDB, Economer, Father Cletus Sebastian SDB, Executive Director of Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, and Father V. M. Thomas SDB, former Provincial of Guwahati, along with a host of other esteemed guests and delegates from the neighbouring country of Bhutan.
