Health Camp Brings Medical Relief to Remote Border Villages in Gujarat–Madhya Pradesh
News reported by: BIS Correspondent Mumbai
In an effort to provide accessible healthcare to people living in remote tribal regions along the Gujarat–Madhya Pradesh border, a free health camp was organised at Rendha village on May 14 through the joint initiative of DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant, the Don Bosco Past Pupils Unit, Kawant, and the Primary Health Centre, Navalja. The camp was held at Ayushyaman Arogya Mandir, Rendha.
Located on the outskirts of Gujarat, Rendha serves as a central point for several neighbouring villages where access to healthcare and transport facilities remains limited, particularly during the harsh summer months. Recognising the urgent medical needs of the local community, DISHA Don Bosco took the initiative to organise an outreach programme.
The camp was led by Dr Pankaj Rathwa, MBBS, along with the medical team from the Primary Health Centre, Navalja. Mr Hasmukh Christian, Programme Officer, and staff members of DISHA Don Bosco, Kawant, were also present during the programme.
More than 70 patients from Rendha and nearby villages attended the camp and received free medical consultation and medicines. Many were treated for common summer-related ailments such as fever, cough, cold, sunstroke, headache, body pain, and general weakness. The medicines were distributed free of cost with the support of the Primary Health Centre, Navalja.
Villagers expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting that healthcare services are often difficult to access in the region. The village Sarpanch appreciated the organisers for bringing medical assistance closer to the people, especially during summer when travel to hospitals becomes challenging due to poor transport connectivity.
Dr Pankaj Rathwa described the camp as a meaningful experience that strengthened his sense of responsibility towards rural communities. Mr Ranchod Rathwa, President of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Unit, Kawant, assured continued support for similar welfare and healthcare initiatives in the future.
