General Councillor Fr. Silvio Roggia Inspires Pre-Novices to Follow Don Bosco's Footsteps
In a spirit-filled encounter, Fr. Silvio Roggia, General Councillor for Formation of the Salesians of Don Bosco, met with 11 pre-novices from the Mumbai and Panjim-Konkan provinces, urging them to remain rooted in prayer and to walk steadfastly in the footsteps of St. John Bosco.
Fr. Roggia, who spent time personally interacting with each of the young men in formation, encouraged them to see prayer as the "greatest strength in their vocation." He emphasized the Salesian mission of being passionately in love with Christ and wholly dedicated to the service of young people, as exemplified by Don Bosco.
Joining him, Br. Raymond Callo, Regional Coordinator for the Lay Brother vocation, invited the pre-novices to reflect deeply on the Lay Brother vocation within the Salesian congregation. He also offered valuable insights into this often less-known but vital aspect of Salesian life.
Fr. Ashley Miranda, Provincial designate of the Mumbai Province and Provincial Delegate for Formation, advised the pre-novices to develop a close and trusting relationship with their spiritual directors. "Confide in him and talk to him often," he said, also reminding them to nurture a deep love for young people – the heart of Don Bosco's charism.
The interaction concluded with a heartfelt felicitation programme put up by the pre-novices, expressing their joy and gratitude for Fr. Roggia's visit. As a token of appreciation, the Don Bosco Loutolim community presented Fr. Silvio with a commemorative souvenir.
The occasion also marked the felicitation of Fr. Ashley Miranda on his new appointment, along with Fr. Robert Pen, the Vice-Provincial designate, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the day.
