The Salesian Province of Shillong (INS) warmly welcomed Rev. Fr. Silvio Roggia SDB, General Councillor for Formation, on his maiden visit as Formation Superior from August 6–9, 2025. Though he had visited earlier as part of the formation team, this was his first trip to the province in his current role.

Upon arrival at the Provincial House, Fr. Roggia addressed the council members, focusing on three key themes: the synergy between Salesian life and apostolate, the Salesians’ role as representatives of the Church in the world, and Salesian life as a “communion in diversity.” He later gave the Goodnight talk to the community.

On August 7, Fr. Roggia presided over the Holy Eucharist at Sacred Heart Theological College (SHTC), Mawlai, for the inauguration of the 2025–26 academic year, attended by Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh of Shillong. He also visited the Don Bosco Museum and interacted with student brothers and staff of SHTC.

The following day, he visited Don Bosco Aspirantate, Nonglakhiat, celebrating Mass and engaging with aspirants and confreres. He also met the Novices of the Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco (VSDB) and the Salesian novices at Sunnyside, Upper Shillong.

On August 9, Fr. Roggia celebrated Mass at the Provincial House for the community and school principals, reflecting on the Salesians’ role in education. His itinerary included meetings with aspirants at the Pastoral Centre, student brothers at the Salesian Training Centre, apostolic boys at Savio Juniorate, novices at Bellefonte (FMA Sisters), and the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC) in Mawroh.

Before departing for the Pre-Novitiate house in Amguri, Dimapur Province, on August 10, Fr. Roggia thanked the province for its hospitality and encouraged all to persevere in their Salesian mission.
