Faith that Stands Firm: Don Bosco Nerul Stages Biblical Musical 'Daniel'
On December 6, Don Bosco School, Nerul, presented a compelling Biblical English musical titled “Faithfulness of One Man of God – DANIEL,” drawing the audience into the life of the steadfast prophet whose faith remained unshaken amidst trials, exile, and political turbulence. Centred on the theme “Faith that Stands Firm – Lessons from Prophet Daniel,” the production aimed to inspire young and old with the values of courage, truthfulness, spiritual discipline, and reliance on God.
The musical was staged by the Faith Family team under the direction of Mr Noel and organised in collaboration with the Don Bosco Management Team and the Association of Salesian Cooperators. The Christmas-season event drew a packed house of over 300 attendees from various age groups, creating a setting filled with devotion, anticipation, and admiration for the Biblical narrative. Though the stage belonged to Don Bosco, the message transcended its walls, extending a global invitation to stand firm in moral conviction.
The programme began with an uplifting prayer and worship session led by Fr Allwyn Misquitta SDB, Spiritual Director of Don Bosco Nerul, accompanied by Mr Prashant on the keyboard. Fr Barnabe D’Souza, Rector of Don Bosco Nerul, offered the welcome address. Also present for the occasion were Vice Principal and Administrator Fr. Shekar Mariadas and Principal Mrs Kalyani Chaudhuri.
The musical traced Daniel’s journey from his youth, portraying him as a man who upheld righteousness even when confronted with societal pressure and political expectations. The depiction encouraged students and families alike to remain firm in their values, resist peer pressure, and practice purity in their thoughts, words, and relationships. The young audience, in particular, resonated with the message of moral strength and commitment to truth.
At the heart of the play was Daniel’s unwavering habit of prayer. His dialogue with God was portrayed not as a last resort but as his primary response in times of uncertainty. This culminated in the dramatic Lion’s Den scene, where Daniel’s proclamation—“My God sent His angel and shut the mouths of the lions”—underscored his trust in divine protection.
The musical further highlighted Daniel’s God-given wisdom and his prophetic visions, reminding the audience that earthly kingdoms fade, but God’s reign is eternal. Enhancing the narrative were strong performances, striking lighting, and evocative visuals.
In his concluding remarks, Fr. Allwyn thanked the cast and Salesian Cooperators. The evening closed with the reminder that faith outlives fear, and prayer opens the way to God’s miracles.
