Don Bosco Maram Equips 510 Students with Life Skills and Career Guidance

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram, organised a two-day Orientation-cum-Career Guidance Programme on July 16 and 17 for 510 newly admitted higher secondary students from the Arts, Commerce, and Science streams. The programme aimed to prepare them for academic success while fostering leadership, self-confidence, and career readiness.

The programme was conducted by a resource team from Don Bosco Youth Empowerment Services (DBYES), Dimapur Province, in collaboration with AIDA–Don Bosco Job Placement Network (JPN), Dimapur. The sessions were facilitated by Fr. Theotimus Lakra SDB, Bro. Phikow Paul SDB, Bro. Dhiraj Bhengra SDB, Mrs Clare Mahung, Mr Alan Paul, and Mr Sebi Chacko, who shared expertise in youth development, career guidance, and personality development.

Designed to help students make a smooth transition into higher secondary education, the orientation combined motivational talks, interactive activities, group discussions, and practical learning experiences. It focused on strengthening personal and professional competencies needed to meet the challenges of a competitive world.

The sessions addressed topics including youth issues and challenges, leadership qualities, career pathways, self-confidence, employability, job-hunting skills, and career awareness.

Students actively participated in the sessions, engaging in discussions and activities that encouraged self-reflection, teamwork, and informed career planning. The facilitators emphasised lifelong learning, effective communication, and responsible decision-making in shaping successful careers.

Beyond career guidance, the programme sought to nurture holistic development by helping students build confidence, improve leadership and communication skills, and cultivate a positive attitude towards education and life.
