News reported by: Muthyala Sudhakar [INH]
Don Bosco Disha – Vizag Region organised a Job Mela at St. Antony’s School, bringing together 22 companies and more than 350 young participants to promote youth employability and empowerment.
The event was held under the blessings of Most Rev. Udumula Bala, Archbishop of Visakhapatnam, and was led by Fr. Vijay Bhaskar, City Youth Director. Designed as an interactive recruitment and guidance platform, the Job Mela enabled direct engagement between employers and job-seeking youth, offering placement opportunities alongside professional guidance and career orientation.
Fr. Gupta, Director of Don Bosco Disha, Vizag Region, coordinated the programme's overall planning and execution in collaboration with national and local coordinators. The Don Bosco Navajeevan Community provided logistical and organisational support, ensuring the event was conducted smoothly.
Addressing the gathering, Archbishop Udumula Bala encouraged young participants to cultivate a “Glocal” outlook—integrating global competence with local rootedness. He urged them to pursue their aspirations with perseverance while remaining firmly anchored in ethical values. Rev. Fr. Vijay Bhaskar emphasised the importance of resilience and determination in making the most of opportunities offered by such initiatives.
Fr. Arul Das outlined the range of services offered by Don Bosco institutions, particularly in skill development and youth empowerment. He encouraged participants to stay connected with Don Bosco Disha for continued support through training programmes, career guidance, and youth-focused initiatives.
Organisers said the Job Mela was a step towards strengthening employment pathways and supporting the holistic development of young people. By creating a bridge between aspiring candidates and industry representatives, the initiative reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to meaningful engagement in youth development.
The event reflected a collaborative effort involving Church leadership, Salesian communities, coordinators, and volunteers. Organisers said similar initiatives will continue in the region, with a sustained focus on improving employability and supporting professional growth among young people.
