In a significant achievement for Don Bosco College Tura and the Garo Hills region, Ms Nandini Ishvi O. Sangma has been selected to represent India at the 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP13) scheduled to be held in Sydney, Australia, from July 26 to 31, 2026.
Nandini will join five other young delegates from across the country at the prestigious international forum, which brings together youth representatives aged 18 to 29 from Commonwealth nations for a week-long parliamentary simulation and leadership training programme.
A student of the Department of Political Science at Don Bosco College, Tura, Nandini earned the distinction after being adjudged “Best Speaker” during the first-ever Youth Parliament held in Garo Hills. The programme was organised by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in collaboration with Tura Christian College at the District Auditorium, Tura, on March 2–3, 2026.
The Commonwealth Youth Parliament is designed to provide young aspiring leaders with exposure to parliamentary procedures, governance, legislative debates, and democratic practices. Participants engage in simulated parliamentary sessions, committee discussions, and interactive leadership exercises to nurture future policymakers and public representatives.
Nandini’s selection has brought pride and recognition to Don Bosco College Tura and the wider Garo Hills community. Faculty members, students, and well-wishers have congratulated her on the achievement and extended their best wishes as she prepares to represent India on the international stage in Australia.
