Don Bosco College Panjim Opens Silver Jubilee Year with Thanksgiving and Vision for the Future

Don Bosco College, Panjim formally launched its Silver Jubilee celebrations on July 6, marking twenty-five years of academic excellence, holistic education, and service to society. The inauguration marked the start of a year-long programme and offered an opportunity to reflect on the institution’s growth and its commitment to the Salesian tradition of education.
The celebrations began with a thanksgiving Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Panjim, presided over by Fr. Clive Telles, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Panjim-Konkan. In his homily, he invoked God’s blessings on the college, its students, staff, alumni, and all who have contributed to its development over the past quarter century.
The inaugural function on the college campus brought together students, faculty, alumni, pioneers, and invited guests. The programme opened with a prayer service, followed by a welcome address by the Director, Fr. Kinley D’Cruz, who traced the institution’s journey from its modest beginnings to its emergence as one of Goa’s respected centres of higher education. The traditional lighting of the lamp symbolised the college’s pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and service.
A highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the official Silver Jubilee logo, representing the institution’s legacy and future aspirations. A specially prepared audio-visual presentation revisited the milestones, achievements, and memorable moments that have shaped the college over the last twenty-five years. Former Principal Dr Marie Raj reflected on the institution's formative years, recalling the vision and collective effort that laid the foundation for its strength.
Delivering the keynote address, Fr. Clive Telles congratulated the college community on reaching the milestone and urged the institution to continue forming young people who are intellectually competent, morally grounded, and socially responsible.
The celebrations also featured the release of the latest edition of the college magazine, Bosco Chronicles. Rector Fr. Tamatur Cardozo and Principal Prof. Teotone Vaz reflected on the college’s accomplishments and outlined its aspirations for the future. The launch of the Silver Jubilee commemorative T-shirt and the debut performance of the new College Anthem by the college choir added colour to the occasion.
Staff Secretary Mr Agnelo D’Souza presented the calendar of activities planned for the jubilee year, which includes academic, cultural, and community outreach programmes. The event concluded with the presentation of mementoes to the dignitaries and a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Dr Cedric Silveira.
