DISHA Don Bosco Kawant Plants 280 Saplings Across 19 Tribal Villages

DISHA Don Bosco Kawant planted 280 saplings across 19 tribal villages in July and August 2026 during a two-month campaign to promote environmental responsibility and community participation.

Managed by the Kawant Education Society, the campaign aimed to make environmental conservation a shared community responsibility rather than a one-time tree-planting effort. DISHA Youth Mentors and Youth Leaders coordinated the initiative with Sarpanches, residents, and schoolchildren.

The campaign drew active participation from local leadership and public institutions, reinforcing the link between governance, community development, and environmental conservation. Sarpanches, Deputy Sarpanches, Block Delegates, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and Police G.P. officers joined DISHA Youth Mentors and Leaders in the plantation drives.

School children were also actively involved, with 147 students from seven villages taking part in the plantation activities. Their participation helped build environmental awareness early and encouraged responsibility for nurturing the trees in their communities.

The campaign also promoted biodiversity by planting a variety of fruit-bearing, medicinal and ecologically suitable species, including Indian Gooseberry, Pomegranate, Ashoka, Custard Apple, Cashew and Bael.
