A proud moment unfolded for Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI), New Delhi, as 55 of its trainees and staff were invited by the Directorate General of Training (DGT) to participate in the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh (Skill Convocation Ceremony) held at Vigyan Bhawan.

The national event, graced by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, celebrated India’s growing skill ecosystem and honoured 46 All India Toppers from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country. The ceremony also witnessed the launch of youth-centric initiatives worth over ₹60,000 crore, including the landmark PM-SETU Scheme aimed at upgrading 1,000 ITIs nationwide.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi underlined the transformative role of skill development and ITIs in shaping a self-reliant India. “Our ITIs are not only excellent institutions for industrial education; they are also the workshops of an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.

He further highlighted:

  • “The PM-SETU Yojana will connect India’s youth with the world’s skill demands.”
  • “When the strength of the youth increases, the nation grows stronger.”
  • “As skills grow, the nation becomes self-reliant, exports increase, and employment opportunities expand.”
  • “Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur Ji devoted his entire life to social service and education. The skill university named after him will carry forward his vision.”

The event brought together dignitaries, including Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar, Union Ministers Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Shri Jual Oram, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Shri Durga Das Uikey, and Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, along with senior officials from the Department of Geology and Mining (DGE&T ) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

Representatives from ASK Government ITI Nizamuddin, NSTI Delhi, and other national training institutes also participated. With 46 toppers among 357 national awardees representing over 150 trades, the ceremony stood as a pan-India celebration of talent, skill, and empowerment—and a moment of pride for DBTI’s continued excellence in technical education.
